Music Learning Games

Use the button links and descriptions here to find games to help you work on musical concepts.

1.) Rhythm Hot Shots: Shoot Baskets and answer rhythm beat questions to build rhythm reading skills!

2.) Eek Shark has a shark collecting Note Names in his treasure chest by using the mouse pad to slide back and forth and catching notes with the space bar. If you catch the wrong ones more sharks will come!

3.) "Name That Note" is a basic drill program for reading note names. Start on Beginner and Treble Clef and try to beat the clock. (Piano students can also practice Bass Clef Notes here!)

4.) Musical Notes is a more advanced game for intermediate and advanced piano players. You will play notes as they appear on the screen on a piano keyboard. This tests both Treble and Bass Clef, as well as sharps and flats.

5.) Music Theory.net's game will allow you to finetune adjust the settings to practice note name reading at any level. Use the "Slide Button" Icon in the upper right hand corner to adjust clef, note range, accidentals, and turn on a count down challenge game. 

6.) Music Theory.net's game also has this game version that allows you to practice identifying note names at the frets of the guitar. Similar to their note identification game,  but this time you will be able to adjust the settings to aide with fretboard identification.

7.) This version of "Space Invaders" requires you to answer questions on Instrument Family knowledge to continue. A great way to review instrument families!

8.) A little bit more advanced, this version of "Battleship" requires you to verify a hit by answering instrument family and playing questions.

9.) Identify which instrument is playing in this combined YouTube/Quiz Activity. Select the green "Play" Button and then select Play on the YouTube screen. Type in your response to the timed listening (times are listed to the right of the question number) and numbers for the next question will appear as the video goes on. The program won't let you type in incorrect answers. You can skip to the next question by selecting the next box on the fill in form.

 

10.) Treble Clef Sports Blaster: Try to group sports balls on the grid in 3's using the arrow keys to aim to clear out the grid. Answer Treble Clef Note Name Questions as you go.

 

11.) Music Term and Expression Hangman: Hangman with music expression terms and music vocabulary.

 

12.) Dynamic Term Matching Quiz: See if you can meet the challenge and match them all in 30 seconds!
