FJH Unit 8

Goals for this Unit:​

- Reinforce proper hand position, posture, and finger number assignments. Students will continue to develop the skill of finding a hand position from a fingering chart.

- Continue to reinforce quarter, half, dotted half, and whole note note and rest rhythms. Students will be able to read, count, play, and compose with these rhythms by the end of the unit on the music staff. Eighth notes and pick-up note rhythms will continue to be reinforced throughout.

-Continue to introduce reading the Musical Alphabet on the Music Staff. Students will be able to play, read, and compose with Middle and Regular C Position Notes (C3-G4) by the end of the unit. The note name range will be extended to include crossing into FACE above the C position (F4-E5). 

-Introduction of the Treble C Pentatonic Hand Position and movement between existing C Position and the Treble C Pentatonic hand position.

- None: All Songs in this unit are meant to reinforce the ability to count eighth notes.
