FJH Unit 5

Goals for this Unit:​

- Reinforce proper hand position, posture, and finger number assignments. Students will continue to develop the skill of finding a hand position from a fingering chart.

- Continue to reinforce quarter, half, dotted half, and whole note note and rest rhythms. Students will be able to read, count, play, and compose with these rhythms by the end of the unit on the music staff.

-Continue to introduce reading the Musical Alphabet on the Music Staff. Students will be able to play, read, and compose with Middle and Regular C Position Notes (C3-G4) by the end of the unit. The concept of harmony and the C Major Chord will be introduced in this unit.

- Students will be able to play in Staccato (short) and Legato (slurred/smooth) styles by the end of this unit.  Students will be able to read symbol markings and use them in composing. 

- Students will learn to read and follow repeat signs and use them in composition.
