FJH Unit 4

Goals for this Unit:​

- Reinforce proper hand position, posture, and finger number assignments. Students will continue to develop the skill of finding a hand position from a fingering chart.

- Continue to reinforce quarter, half, dotted half, and whole note rhythms. Students will be able to read, count, play, and compose with these rhythms by the end of the unit on the music staff.

- Introduction of Quarter, Half, and Whole Rests. Students will be able to play, read, and compose with these rhythm symbols in combination with previously learned rhythms.

-Continue to introduce reading the Musical Alphabet on the Music Staff. Students will be able to play, read, and compose with Middle and Regular C Position Notes (C3-G4) by the end of the unit. The concept of harmony and the C Major Chord will be introduced in this unit.

-Students will be able to play and read a "Da Capo al Fine" (Go Back to the beginning of the song and play until the Fine sign). Students will be able to compose a song with a D.C. al Fine by the end of the unit.
