Goals for this Unit:​

- Reinforce proper hand position, posture, and finger number assignments. Students will continue to develop the skill of finding a hand position from a fingering chart.

- Continue to reinforce quarter, half, dotted half, and whole note rhythms. Students will be able to read, count, play, and compose with these rhythms by the end of the unit on the music staff.

- Introduce Time Signatures. Students will begin to learn the difference between 4/4 Time (4 beats per measure) and 3/4 Time (3 beats per measure).

- Introduce reading the Musical Alphabet on the Music Staff. Students will begin to be able to identify to find and match notes on the staff to piano keys. Students will be able to play, read, and compose with Middle C Position Notes (G, A, B, C, D, E, and F) by the end of the unit.

- Reinforce Steps (2nds) and Skips (3rds) and how to play them. Students will be able to identify piano keys  that are either stepwise or skip a key and begin to play them in song patterns.
