EGM Unit 16

Goals for this Unit:​

- Continue to reinforce proper guitar hold and hand position

- Reinforce playing combinations of the notes on all 6 Strings on the guitar in first position (1st Fret) as  well as eighth, quarter, dotted quarter, half, dotted half, and whole note rhythms. Students will also be able to interpret and apply sharp and natural signs to reading skills. Students will be able to combine these things with new concepts introduced in this unit.

- Introduction of the concept of Open 5ths, otherwise known as Power Chords, on the Guitar. Reinforcement of Moving Harmonics and 5th Fret Note locations will play a role in expanding student understanding how to read, compose, and play power chords in addition to their melody song lines. Students will be able to read, play, and compose with basic 3 string A5, D5, E5, and G5 Power Chords by the end of this unit.

- Introduction of Quarter and Half Rest rhythms. Students will be able to read, count, play, and compose with these rhythms by the end of this unit.
